Applicants must be enrolled in a Moraine Valley Community College Industrial Maintenance Program.

Quaker’s Maintenance Mechanic Internship program is designed to provide students an opportunity to work side by side with experienced mechanics while gaining hands on experience in rebuilding, repairing, troubleshooting, fabricating, and building industrial equipment. The program will last three months with the potential for additional months/semesters. The program will be designed to match work tasks with current or previous courses taken. The successful candidate will work 20 to 25 hours a week in an industrial maintenance environment. The work hours will flex based on your class schedule. The candidate will attend all required trainings including Safety Programs and job-specific trainings.

Job Duties
* Demonstrate ability to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair industrial equipment and machinery to ensure maximum operational efficiency
* Maintains funciton and reliability of manufacturing and support equipment by performing preventative maintenance
* Monitors machines regularly for signs of defects and malfunctions, including visual inspections, listening for irregular noises and conducting testing as appropriate
* Perform breakdown analysis to understand root cause of component failures by following the BDA/Breakdown Analysis Process
* Work with outside contractors on assigned tasks
* Understand and comply with cGMP's, Food Safety Practices, audit standards as well as Plant Safety Practices
* Work under limited supervision with Maintenance Tech Mentors
* Utilize the CMMS system to document work tasks
* Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness
* Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions
* May perform other related duties as necessary to meet the ongoing buisness needs of the organization

Minimum Qualifications

* Must be enrolled in a Moraine Calley Community College Industrial Maintenance Program
* Strong performance, attendance, and academic standing with technical school program
* Willingness to work 20 to 25 hours per week and to commit to a semester-long program
* Must have at least 1 semester completed in the industrial maintenance or similar program
* Authorized to work in United States on a permanent basis
* Must be 18 years of age or older
